Google finds STEM skills aren’t the most important skills

Today I point to a Linkedin article written by Peter Hatherley-Greene. He referred to Google research that found that the top 6 characteristics of success at Google were all soft skills:

  1. being a good coach

  2. communicating and listening well

  3. possessing insights into others (including other different values and points of view)

  4. having empathy toward and being supportive of one’s colleagues

  5. being a good critical thinker and problem solver

  6. being able to make connections across complex ideas

I believe that students should leave school with these skills and Design Thinking is a key method for them to learn empathy and creative problem solving.
